New Ownership at Yard Gear

Fredericton, NB: We are pleased to announce that the previous owner, Steve Butler, has sold Yard Gear to Adrian Butts, effective May 25, 2023, in a deal facilitated by Confederation M&A, a mergers & acquisition firm with offices in Charlottetown, Fredericton, Halifax and Ottawa.

Yard Gear was founded in 2010 by Steve Butler. The business is situated in Hanwell, New Brunswick, and has become one of the leading providers of name-brand outdoor power and sports equipment, carrying many of today’s top-selling products in the region. Yard Gear also offers a full array of parts, accessories and services to enhance the customer experience. In 2020, the business introduced a separate division, YG Sports, to better market its motorcycles and other outdoor products. Some of the leading brands carried by Yard Gear include STIHL, Husqvarna, Bobcat, Ariens, GOTRAX and Gravely.

“I’m very proud of the whole team at Yard Gear,” shared Steve. “Their dedication to the business is a major reason the business has experienced the success it has over the last 13 years.” “With the experience that Adrian will bring to the business, I know Yard Gear’s staff, customers and suppliers are in good hands.”

Adrian started Considerate Property Management (CPM) in 2009. Operating out of Fredericton, NB, CPM is a fully customizable management service business for rental property owners. He then sold the business in 2021. Currently, he co-owns The Squeeze Restaurant and has commercial property investments throughout New Brunswick.

“I’m honoured to be acquiring Yard Gear, which I firmly believe is the leading provider in the outdoor power and sports equipment industry,” said Adrian. “The knowledgeable team at Yard Gear was a big positive when I first looked at the business; couple that with the well-rounded product and leading brand offering, and it was an easy choice to take the next steps. I look forward to connecting with the wide network of clientele that Steve and his team have developed over the last 13 years.”
