New Ownership at Samuel’s Coffee House

Charlottetown, PE: We are pleased to announce that Moyna Murphy has sold Samuel’s Coffee House (Samuel’s, hereafter) to Colleen MacKay, Chris Francis, and Sean Bruinooge of Receiver Coffee Company (Receiver, hereafter).

Samuel’s is a multi-location café located in Prince Edward Island, offering a great selection of organic coffees, specialty coffees, tea selections, freshly baked goods, as well as breakfast and lunch food options. Samuel’s was established in 2011 by Moyna with the vision to create a space to bring people together through great coffee. Moyna attributes much of Samuel’s growth and success over the years to all the team members who have all played a part in what Samuel’s is today.

“I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work alongside all of the team members, both past and present, over the years at Samuel’s,” Moyna shared. “The employees are what make Samuel’s the success story that it is. The decision to sell was certainly not an easy one; however, I believe that Colleen, Chris, Sean and the rest of the team are the perfect fit to take over Samuel’s. I feel very confident that under the new ownership, the business will continue to provide excellent service to our valued, long-standing customers.”

Colleen, Chris, and Sean are the owners of Receiver in Prince Edward Island. Receiver got its start in 2014 and now operates four locations in the province. Samuel’s and Receiver are very much aligned with the goal of creating the best overall experience for all its customers, rather than just being a generic café or restaurant. Both businesses operate with the highest level of care for their clientele, staff and suppliers.

“We are so pleased to be the new owners of Samuel’s Coffee House,” shared Colleen. “Moyna and all the staff of Samuel’s have much to be proud of when it comes to the success the business has experienced over the years. We are excited to meet and continue to serve all the many long-standing customers of Samuel’s.”

Confederation M&A represented Samuel’s Coffee House on the transaction as M&A advisors.
