First Friends Child Care Centre Sold to New Owners
First Friends Child Care Centre, a Charlottetown-based child care centre for children between the ages of 12 months and five years, has been sold to new owners, effective October 30, 2020. Previous owners Sandra and Greg Mills, have owned and operated the child care centre since 1998, have sold to Megan and Chris Daley, in a deal facilitated by Confederation M&A.
First Friends Child Care Centre is a licensed child care centre that follows the Early Learning framework established by the Department of Education and Lifelong Learning. Gayle Mills, Greg’s mother, first opened the child care centre in 1988. At that time, there were two employees, including Sandra, and there were eight children attending the child care centre. Today, there are eight full-time Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) and the centre is licensed for 50 full-time children.
“First Friends has provided us with many memories and relationships that we will relish long into the future”, say former owners Sandra and Greg, “we are proud of the nurturing, welcoming and homey environment that has been created with the help of many staff members at First Friends and we take comfort in knowing that the Daley’s will carry this through for many years to come.”
Megan and Chris are very familiar with the child care centre as their children have attended over the years. “We are thrilled with the opportunity to assume ownership of First Friends and know firsthand how special this child care centre is with our children attending over the six years”, they said in a joint statement. “We are very much looking forward to carrying on the legacy that the Mills and their staff have established.”
As part of the transfer to new ownership, Sandra will be staying on to work at First Friends Child Care Centre up to 2021 to ensure a smooth transition with the new owners.
