Doirons Landscaping & Garden Centre Transitions to New Owners and Expands Business

We are pleased to announce that Doiron’s Landscaping & Garden Centre (“Doirons”) has been purchased by a local ownership group consisting of Parker Perry, Troy Condon and Jeremy Doiron. The deal was brokered by Confederation M&A, a local mergers & acquisition firm based in Charlottetown.

Doirons is a pioneer in the PEI landscaping and gardening sector, well known for its expert landscaping services, its garden centre and island-famous Christmas store. The business was started by Wade and Janet in 1983 out of their home in North Rustico. In 1992 – as the business grew and more space was required, Doirons purchased and moved into its current location at 2 Day Avenue in Charlottetown.

Doirons takes a great deal of pride in the products and services it offers, but it takes just as much pride in its trusted employees – many who have been with the company between 10 to 35 years and have become like family. Others are family.

Jeremy Doiron, one of the three purchasers, is the son of current owners Wade and Janet. He and his wife Nikki will be familiar faces to patrons of the business. Jeremy has worked in the business for 25 years and Nikki 15 years, with Jeremy working as a foreman in the landscaping side of the business while Nikki oversees the garden centre – providing all-important personalized customer service and is the friendly voice customers have become used to hearing when they call the business. Jeremy and Nikki look forward to ensuring customers continue to get the same great service they have come to know.

Under new ownership, Doiron’s is also pleased to announce that it will be expanding its products and service offerings to include a complete line of decking, fencing and full design service packages targeted to help customers turn their property into a backyard oasis. Partner Troy Condon brings over 20 years experience in the building supply industry and a wealth of knowledge to help customers with their product and design needs.

As Wade and Janet step back from the business into a well-deserved retirement after almost 40 years, they note they will be sticking around to help wherever is needed and that while they may be stepping back – they are not stepping away.

“While stepping back from the business we have been so close to for 40 years is bittersweet, Janet and I take a great sense of relief knowing that our customers are in good hands with Parker, Jeremy and Troy”, shared Wade Doiron.

“Parker and Jeremy grew up together in North Rustico and Parker has created a great business of his own in construction and development which will be very complementary to Doirons. The expansion into deck and fencing will be a great value-add to our customers and having Troy’s expertise in this area will be very valuable. Each of the new owners brings a unique skillset to the business, so it was a perfect fit at this time to hand off the business to the group who will bring new energy and ideas to the business”, Doiron added.

Parker Perry is also the owner of Parker Perry Development/Parker Built Homes – a company founded in 2014 that is behind building beautiful communities in PEI such as Carter’s Creek and Melody Meadows. For Parker, Doirons was a natural fit.

“On behalf of Troy, Jeremy and myself, we are thrilled to take over an Island home-grown business that has built such as strong reputation”, shared Parker Perry. “Wade and Janet have poured their hearts and souls into the company for many years and thanks to them, Doirons name has become synonymous with quality and service here in PEI. We look forward to carrying on the Doirons name and legacy.”

As many small business owners have had to do, Wade and Janet have worn many hats over the years to get the business to where it is today. The new ownership group will be dividing up roles to best suit their strengths, with Troy serving as store manager, Jeremy looking after all landscaping and maintenance needs, and Parker overseeing design builds and construction of decks and fences.

“Our vision to provide a full service one stop shop for outdoor living which streamlines the process for home owners”, Perry added.
