Kindred Spirits Inn & Cottages Brings on New Owners

Kindred Spirits Inn & Cottages, under the ownership and management of Sharon & Al James, and more recently, Dan & Becky James since 1986, has been acquired by entrepreneurs Adam & Marsha Doiron and Michael & Stacy Hoffarth.

Kindred Spirits Inn & Cottages has been a favourite accommodation choice for Cavendish guests for over three and a half decades. Its popularity grew thanks to the charming and hardworking staff, many of whom have been with the company for years, contributing to its quaint and welcoming atmosphere.  Nestled on six acres in the heart of Cavendish and conveniently situated adjacent to Anne of Green Gables, Kindred Spirits stands as a tranquil retreat amidst the bustling surroundings of Cavendish, PEI.

“Kindred Spirits has been a labour of love for the James Family. We are very thankful for the dedication and loyalty of our guests and staff who have helped build this business into what it has become.” says Dan James. The James’ will continue to remain in an advisory capacity to assist with the transition.  “We are so excited to have the Doirons and the Hoffarths step in and infuse new energy into the company.  We are very confident in their vision and ability to continue providing the renowned hospitality that Kindred Spirits has become known for”, states James.

The Doirons are well-acquainted with the tourism sector, demonstrating a strong interest in investment opportunities within the maritime region. Their portfolio of businesses encompasses the Prince Edward Island Preserve Company, Windsor Court Retirement Residence, Gagnon Beach Campground, and franchises of Mezza Lebanese Kitchen.

Michael & Stacy Hoffarth have been instrumental in this purchase and are no strangers when it comes to working alongside each other.  The Hoffarths come from a diverse entrepreneurial background that began with owning and operating a transportation company for numerous years. Their more recent involvement is with property management, including  successfully managing Gagnon Beach Campground for the Doirons. “We are delighted to be on this new venture alongside Adam and Marsha, and look forward to calling Kindred Spirits home.”, states Hoffarth.

In line with the core values of these enterprising couples, this acquisition reflects their commitment to contributing, expanding, and making a positive impact on the greater good. “We are thrilled about acquiring this exceptionally distinctive business and eager to collaborate with the dedicated and loyal team. We value the years of dedication that have shaped this legacy and anticipate fostering the growth of the business alongside this exceptional and resilient team,” stated Doiron.

The Doirons are very familiar with Kindred Spirits, having worked for decades in the transportation and tourism industry where they used to transport their guests around Prince Edward Island. “We relish the opportunity to take ownership of this legacy and are committed to the continued success of Kindred Spirits.” adds, Doiron. “

“We are beyond thrilled and energized to continue on this journey with the committed, skilled, and industrious team that has brought us to this point”, adds Hoffarth.

Confederation M&A represented Kindred Spirits Inn & Cottages on the transaction as M&A advisors.
