Wayne Carew | President
In 2010 Wayne joined the MRSB management team and has since transitioned to President of Confederation M&A. He provides expert advice to private sector clients on every aspect of buying or selling a business including risk assessment, defining and approaching potential buyers and sellers, due diligence and post-acquisition support. Wayne’s extensive management and ownership experience in fields ranging from post-secondary education and healthcare to automotive sales has given him a leading edge in achieving successful deals for his clients. His wide-reaching contact list and his understanding of every stage of the business process allow him to provide an excellent level of service. Wayne currently serves on the Executive of the Board for the Slemon Park Corporation, Prince County Hospital Foundation and the National Board of the Canada Games. He lives in Stanley Bridge, Prince Edward Island with his wife Nancy and enjoys spending time on their boat and travelling.
Trisha Mossey | CPA, CA | Partner
Trisha graduated from UPEI in 2009 and completed her Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 2012. Trisha began her career with MRSB Chartered Professional Accountants with a focus in financial statement audits and transitioned to the mergers and acquisitions team with Confederation M&A in 2013. She became a partner in Confederation M&A in 2017. Trisha is the treasurer of the Colonel Gray Education Foundation, a Chapter Advisory Board Member with Make-A-Wish Canada (unified with Children’s Wish Foundation in 2019) and sits on the Holland College Foundation Board of Directors, where she assists with securing gifts to continue the ongoing development of the college.
Trisha lives in Charlottetown with her husband, Matt and son Cameron.
Jeff MacKenzie | MBA | Partner
Jeff obtained his BBA from UPEI and his MBA from Lancaster University Management School in the United Kingdom. Jeff began his career working as a Manager in the PEI tourism industry and later went on to the work for international companies based in the United Kingdom and Toronto as a Management Consultant. Jeff led consulting teams in a variety of industries helping businesses with corporate restructuring, mergers & acquisitions, and in designing and implementing a variety of profitability improvements initiatives. Jeff joined the Confederation M&A team in 2015 and became a partner in 2017.
Jeff currently lives in Charlottetown with his wife Becky. He's a board member of the Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce, the Community Foundation of PEI, and the Rotary Club of Charlottetown-Hillsborough. In his spare time, he enjoys playing sports and is an avid traveller, having been to 30+ countries and counting.
Bob Brown | Partner
Bob has an extensive background with varied experience developed from a diverse and successful background in the oil and gas, real estate, gaming, and sustainable packaging industries. Bob enjoys providing excellent customer service working with clients throughout Atlantic Canada to ensure a smooth transition whether buying or selling a business. Bob currently resides in Fredericton and enjoys playing hockey, golf and spending time with his family and friends.
Peter MacSwain | Transaction Advisor
Peter obtained his BBA with a focus in economics in 2009 from the University of Prince Edward Island and completed his Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 2018. Prior to joining Confederation M&A, he was employed in the accounting department at MRSB Group, a DFK Canada and Confederation M&A affiliate based in Charlottetown. In the past, he gained significant experience in the hospitality industry working from coast to coast. Peter enjoys working clients through every step of the process to ensure a smooth transition whether buying or selling a business.
Peter currently resides in downtown Charlottetown. He is a board member of Fusion Charlottetown. In his downtime, he enjoys travelling, playing golf, spending time with his family and Prince Edward Island beaches.
April Whynot | Executive Assistant
Originally from Nova Scotia’s south shore, April first called PEI home after graduating from NSCC in 1994. She then moved to Ontario, eventually settling in Hamilton and worked as a secretary for a large Canadian organization for a number of years.
In 2007, she decided PEI was the right place to call home and made the move back with her young daughter. Since 2008 she has been working as an Executive Assistant and has proven to be a valuable asset to both the Confederation M&A team, as well as affiliate MRSB Group.
